First Sunday

So here I go, attempting to create a blog. Already my title is mispelled and I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm hoping my computer literacy will improve as I embark on this journey (also my typing).

It's a rainy Sunday in the Eastern Sierra, which is a rare weather event here. Usually H20 falls in the form of snow or brief thundershowers. It's finally spring and the aspen trees are leafing, so I'm sure they're welcoming the rain, as am I.

We start the travel journey with an episode in frustration. With a Memorial Day mini-vacation only a week away - the plans had been set for a camping getaway lakeside at Boca Reservoir just outside of Truckee. Theatre tickets had been purchased for "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" at Bruka in Reno, friends contacted for a rendezvous in Carson City and the sleeping bag had been tossed in the washing machine.

Yesterday, the phone call comes announcing that the road to Boca is closed and my reservation is being cancelled and refunded unless I want to stay at Stampede Reservoir (which is an additional 20 miles off the highway). Not that conducive to the sightseeing intensive itinerary I had planned. After spending an hour on-line seeking alternatives, I realize there are very few budget options for the holiday weekend. Time to get creative. Update to follow.
